Balsamiq as mockup tool?

Keith suggested using Balsamiq, maybe. (http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mockups)

It looks pretty, though I wondered if the widgets could be interactive.

  1. Balsamiq is a great tool for non-interactive prototyping--to just mock up a series of designs before you build the actual interaction. Students and faculty members can get a free license to it by e-mailing the developer (there's also a free for everyone web version).

Balsamiq was listed as the top low/medium fidelity prototype tool in this review of 16 prototyping tools: http://www.dexodesign.com/2008/11/07/review-16-user-interface-prototyping-tools/ (the link is also in the additional resources page on the course site).
